BackWorthington Cylinders at ‘gasworld’ conference 2008 in Johannesburg
'The African Continent – Meeting the Challenges of Supply ' was the heading for the second conference organised by ‘gasworld’. Held in Johannesburg on 10 & 11th June the conference was aimed at highlighting the drivers for growth and the challenges faced by gas companies and equipment suppliers in meeting the current and future demand from the region.
The conference was attended by delegates from 5 continents, including a majority coming from 7 African countries. A wide range of subjects covered the future prospects of coal, oil and gas, offshore oil and gas needs, the dynamics of the global Helium market, issues of standardization across Africa and the activities of the SACGA.
On the basis of a strong presence on the African continent Worthington Cylinders GmbH were again an exhibitor as well as a sponsor of this conference. International Sales Managers Helmut Reichenauer and Herbert Rothmayer were able to meet both with existing customers and new contacts alike, and the conference presented a great platform for new business opportunities. It was good to see that lead by the global gas companies the subject of cylinder safety as well as the focus on the economics of total lifetime cylinder costs has gained highest priority in the industry on a very broad basis.
